Italian teenage sensation Jannik Sinner has been in the headlines since his breakthrough in 2020. He is already the youngest player in the top 50 of the ATP rankings and could soon make his top 10 debut if his results continue in the same vein. Sinner has always associated his hard work and ethics with his parents. But little else is known about them so let’s take a look.
Jannik Sinner’s Father – Johann Sinner
Johann Sinner is, by occupation, a chef at a restaurant in Val Pusteria, Italy. The senior Sinner has been inspirational in his son’s career. Jannik Sinner has often talked about his father’s role in shaping his career. Sinner once recalled when he was seven he didn’t touch his racquet for a year and it was his father who reignited his passion for tennis.
“My dad came and said, ‘Let’s try once more’. From that point, I really enjoyed it,” Sinner said.
Johann Sinner is passionate about tennis and thus his son, Jannik is playing tennis. In his childhood Sinner had chances to pursue a career in other sports, but as his father introduced him to tennis, Sinner continued to master tennis.
Jannik Sinner’s Mother – Siglinde Sinner
Jannik Sinner’s mother, Siglinde Sinner, is a waitress at the restaurant in which his father is the chef. Jannik takes great pride in his parents. He is proud of them for pursuing a simple job and working hard. Jannik gets his hard work and work ethic genes from his parents, and early on in his career, he has been quite a gentleman.
“I have it from my parents because they are working every day a simple job. They know what it means to work hard. They gave me this kind of mindset, always trying your best day after day and trying to don’t lose energy during your job,” Sinner said.
In a relatively young career, Sinner has already shown great promise. He is a potential Grand Slam winner and could soon make his parents proud and even put Italy back on the Grand Slam map.
