Los Angeles Lakers have now lost three of their last four games. It now appears that the absence of Anthony Davis is proving expensive for them as they took their most recent defeat against Miami Heat.
This was the first time since the NBA Finals 2020 that the two teams were against each other. Although the Miami Heat roster was more or less the same, the Lakers were not the same team that fought and demolished the Heat four months ago.
The Lakers lost the game 94-96 in a low-scoring game where the Heat showed great defense.
Bam Adebayo denying LeBron James inside the paint
At one point in the game, the Heat were leading 89-81 when the Lakers’ LeBron James had the possession. He came sprinting inside the paint and took off for an easy layup shot, not knowing that Bam Adebayo was right behind him with a superman leap.
Just as Bron left the ball, the Miami Heat forward completed a great block. Take a look –
Bam continued to humiliate Bron for the rest of the game. With five minutes remaining, Adebayo stole the ball off a bad pass from the Akron Hammer and cost him his fifth turnover of the night.
This was a great defensive display from the young rising star who charged guns from both ends of the floor. The Lakers had no answer to deal with that tenacity and the hunger to win.
Miami Heat exposed the Lakers
Notably, the LA-based franchise had a forgetful night from the three-point range. The entire unit struggled from the field and gave a sluggish start.
They scored at 28.9% accuracy as players like Markieff Morris, Montrezl Harrell, and Alex Caruso could not convert any of their combined six attempts.
On top of that, the L-Train made just 1/8 basket from downtown, showing his desperation to get quick points that he could not actually manage. The fourth quarter especially saw them playing with tired legs.
The Miami Heat, on the contrary, saw Kendrick Nunn scoring game-high 27 points with five threes. Plus, Jimmy Butler attempted none of those in his 24-point game as he helped with the win.
For the Lakers, LeBron James did bring them a buzzer-beater opportunity by stealing a crucial inbound pass. However, Alex Caruso’s three-point attempt missed the rim, and they took yet another beating.
