Tony Ferguson has always been in and around the title picture at lightweight. However, ‘El Cucuy’ was never able to realize his dream of becoming the undisputed lightweight champion in the UFC. The closest Ferguson has come was when he beat Kevin Lee at UFC 216 to become the interim champion.
Ferguson was scheduled to fight for the lightweight belt earlier this year against Khabib Nurmagomedov; however, the pandemic meant that the Russian could not cross borders. I’ve increased my value the point where I know it… I know that I have an obligation as a professional athlete to go out there and demonstrate exactly what the f**k I know how to do.
