Jimmie Johnson can finally rest easy, knowing that his legacy is in good hands. For the first time in two decades, the #48 Hendrick Motorsports car does not have Johnson behind the wheel. Instead, Alex Bowman succeeded Johnson as the #48 driver and he finally delivered at Richmond.

After a sluggish start to his 2021 season, Bowman picked up a 3rd place at Atlanta. Unfortunately, he dropped back down again at Bristol and Martinsville, before fate rewarded him with the Richmond win. Needless to say, predecessor Jimmie Johnson was thrilled to see the #48 Hendrick car back
