Seth Curry Reflects on His First Practice with the Philadelphia 76ers, Lauds Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid
The Philadelphia 76ers made a great move this off-season when they acquired Seth Curry from Dallas. Seth is the brother of Steph Curry. And much like his brother, he can shoot the lights out whenever he wants. Given the lack of three-point shooting options with the 76ers, Curry adds a whole new dimension.
The 76ers needed major boosts in their three-point shooting because of Ben Simmons. While Simmons is an excellent point guard, he is not a good shooter. He takes very few shots in the first place and makes very few of the ones he attempts. Additionally, the other players the 76ers had were not making enough threes to make up for Simmons.
Seth Curry will be a valuable addition to the 76ers. He and new player Danny Green will provide important three-point shooting to the 76ers and hopefully turn them into the championship contenders everyone expects them to be.
Seth Curry spoke to the press after his first practice session with the 76ers. Curry pointed out that he can provide the 76ers with valuable floor spacing and said, “I was with them a lot. They put the team together to give them as much space as possible and I’m one of those guys that can, hopefully, take some pressure off of them by giving them space and being able to make plays here and there.”
Seth Curry talks about 76ers practice
Curry noted that it would take time to get acquainted with the 76ers play and strategies, but the team will be better when they’re on the same page. He said “The process of getting to learn their games and where they like guys to be, where they would like to get the ball so it’s gonna take some time for a lot of new guys to get used to playing with them, but it’s exciting because anytime on the floor with two of the greatest players in the league, right now, it makes my job easier.”
Curry praised how the team was using big man Joel Embiid in their practice sessions, with simple yet effective plays. He said, “We’re getting used to playing with each other and making the right plays but that’s just a basic play in basketball that made a lot of bigs like to use especially Joel. We’re going to see a lot of that hopefully.”
Curry and the 76ers will be hoping to make a strong start when the new NBA season begins on December 22, 2020. It will be interesting to see where the 76ers end up this season.
