Police Have Been Called to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Santa Barbara Home Nine Times in the Last Nine Months

Apr 08, 2021

It seems that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might need to beef up security measures around their Santa Barbara mansion after having to call the police to the property nine times in the last nine months.

According to information obtained under the Freedom of Information laws by the PA news agency, officers were called four times to the celebrity-populated neighborhood in July 2020 alone, three times for “alarm activations” and once by phone request. In August, they were called for a “miscellaneous priority incident,” and responded to more alarm activations in November 2020 and February 2021. Perhaps most concerning, however, was when sheriff’s deputies responded to a call on both Christmas Eve and Boxing Day over reports of a trespasser, a man later identified as Nickolas Brooks. The Ohio-native was originally let off with a warning after driving over 2,300 miles to the home, but was subsequently arrested and charged with one count of misdemeanor trespassing when he was caught the second time. Brooks told The Sun that he might have been “high” during the incident, adding “I’ve been told to stay away and that I’m never allowed back there but I don’t have to appear in court. I was in jail for a night and they told me to stay away in future.”

In their explosive interview with Oprah last month, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said that security was one of their biggest concerns after stepping down as senior royals. Meghan revealed that Tyler Perry was one of the people who stepped up to help them. “We needed a house and he offered his security as well, so it gave us breathing room to try to figure out what we were going to do,” she explained. Harry added that he never even considered that his security detail could taken away after stepping down as a senior royal. “I was born into this position,” he said. “I inherited the risk. So that was a shock to me.”
