Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc aren’t the best of friends. The two 23-year-old drivers go a long way. They were going wheel-to-wheel in junior categories and are doing the same as top contenders for their teams now. They regularly collided as young drivers and that has boiled over to Formula 1.
Verstappen and Leclerc take shots at each other in the media
On the eve of the Sakhir GP, both the drivers went into detail about each other. Leclerc recognizes his Dutch rival’s outspoken nature.
He finds it to be his most annoying trait. “Sometimes he can make silly comments in the media, but in the end, that’s what makes Max.
“I think we need personalities in Formula 1 and that’s fine.”
Max isn’t the one to be bogged down by such comments from his peers. He is indifferent to others’ opinions. Staying true to his outspoken nature, he hit back at the Ferrari driver, saying, “I don’t care what he says.
2020 is a year that has become synonymous with the deadly pandemic named coronavirus. F1…
“If he doesn’t want to know what I’m saying, then he shouldn’t read my comments.”
Max Verstappen calls Leclerc ‘Stupid’ for over-optimistic move
The Monegasque left the Red Bull driver seething with his move on the opening lap of Sakhir GP. Charles locked up whilst trying to overtake Sergio Perez, hitting the Mexican driver on the side. This spun the Racing Point and took himself and Max out of the race by crashing into the barrier.
The Dutchman came down hard on him. That was an unnecessary risk. We’re all in front, you can’t suddenly gain two places there. That he passed me is fine, that can happen, but to try to outbreak Checo was very optimistic.
“I think he was too enthusiastic. It was totally unnecessary. There are now two cars in the wall and one at the back. I just think it was stupid and it shouldn’t have happened.”
Long may continue their feud, for both of them form the present and future of Formula 1. The two of them possess all the ingredients of a future Formula 1 World Champion. They are the top dogs in hugely competitive teams. Seeing them go toe to toe is always a mouth-watering prospect for the fans. Only time will who will come out on top.
