‘Learn How to Play Basketball’: Gilbert Arenas Mocks Giannis Antetokounmpo By Comparing Him to James Harden
The biggest mystery around free agency is still to be unraveled. Where will Giannis Antetokounmpo choose to play the next phase of his career? Well, the Milwaukee Bucks definitely want it to be them. They’ve been extremely active this offseason to make sure they get a roster good enough for him to stay. There are many other franchises in line for the Greek Freak, but Gilbert Arenas has a different take altogether.
Giannis has made a big name for himself in the league after playing seven years for the Milwaukee Bucks. He has become a player that shows dominance with just his presence on the court. But after failing to win a title consistently, Giannis has shown signs of not wanting to continue with the Bucks. Ironically, his contract with the Bucks ends in 2021 and he only has time till December 21 to sign his extension.
As of now, there has been no guarantee of his intentions. But other teams are already making cap adjustments to ensure that if Giannis does not sign an extension, then they shouldn’t have any financial hindrance.
Contrary to popular belief, there is one person who has very harsh words for the Greek superstar.
Giannis Antetokounmpo compared to James Harden?
The question that haunts all the Giannis fans is- what does he need to do to win a championship? While most responses are, go to a better team or have a better supporting cast, but when this question presented itself in front of Former NBA player Gilbert Arenas, he had a brutal response.
James Harden is everywhere these days. At one moment, it seems he is on the…
“Learn how to play basketball,” asserted Arenas. “To be honest, he is the James Harden of the east coast. You have a guy who is not the point guard, who dominates the ball, and he’s playing one style. And that style is ‘I am going to take all of the big men who can’t move off the dribble, year on to the stamp and get some dunks.”
He explained to Shannon Sharpe, “That is amazing during the regular season. When that court gets small, you cannot do that anymore. You can’t play that style.”
One can’t help but pay heed to what a three-time All-Star has to say. Are James Harden and Giannis really alike? And why doesn’t anyone else in the league see it this way?
