For two back-to-back games now, Minnesota Vikings rookie Justin Jefferson is pushing hard for a claim on this year’s Rookie of the Year award. The NFC North big boys are on a two-game winning streak at the moment after Sunday’s win over the struggling Jacksonville Jaguars.
A major reason behind their rise to prominence is the performance of youngster, Justin Jefferson. The promising starlet has been consistent in his debut season in the NFL. Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert along with 2019 Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow were leading the race for this honour a couple of weeks ago. However, the latter suffered multiple injuries in the game against Washington Football Team in Week 11.
Joe Burrow is ruled out till the latter half of the 2021 season, leaving Herbert as the frontrunner for the ROTY award. But another contender that emerged for the title is former University of Alabama QB, Tua Tagovailoa. The Hawaii-born athlete made his way to a 3-0 record as a starter for the Miami Dolphins.
But Tua was dealing with a thumb injury and missed one game in Week 12. However, he returned this weekend and led the Dolphins to a commanding 19-7 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Another strong display against the in-form Kansas City Chiefs will make Tua a definite candidate for the ROTY title.
