‘I Had T**s That Wouldn’t Let me Throw the Right Punches’ – Andy Ruiz Jr. Talks on His Transformation
In the 2019 summer, Andy Ruiz Jr. took the boxing world by storm after he battered the stout heavyweight Anthony Joshua. That fight went down as one of the biggest upsets in the sport, leaving a huge blemish on ‘AJ’s prolonged boxing stint. However, Ruiz Jr. became an overnight star with that win and subsequently rose to gigantic stardom.
Unfortunately, the ‘Destroyer’ couldn’t continue the momentum as he ended up on the losing vertical in the rematch with his foe. Post that, he didn’t step inside the boxing ring, but underwent a serious physical transformation.
Ruiz Jr. lost a lot of mass to get in his best shape. Talking about his transformation, he said, “I feel amazing. I can do better stuff that I couldn’t do before because of my big gut. I had t**s that wouldn’t let me throw the right punches.”
Ever since that loss to Joshua, Ruiz Jr. changed his trainer and went under Eddy Reynoso’s wings to elevate his boxing prowess. Alongside losing weight, the ‘Destroyer’ gained some exuberant boxing lessons from his new coach.
He feels better than ever in his current shape and is keen to make a statement with the same.
The 31-year-old will make his much-anticipated return to the boxing ring on May 1 against Chris Arreola. His fans are keen to see him unleash his new version altogether, by putting out a performance worth the wait.
Andy Ruiz Jr. thrilled to stagger the boxing world yet again
That said, Ruiz Jr. had to take anyone else in line to make himself relevant for a fight against Joshua in the future.
Over the past few months, he’s focused on nothing else but ‘AJ’ as he knows that nothing but regular wins will remove all roadblocks between him and a title fight. With a track record of 33-2, the ‘Destroyer’ now wishes to add his 34th career win before looking ahead.
How excited are you to see a new Andy Ruiz Jr. in the ring? Can he turn into the most intimidating heavyweight prospect this year?
