‘Don’t Think They Have an Identity’ – Shaquille O’Neal and Dwyane Wade Critique the Boston Celtics and Their Poor Form
The Boston Celtics have been struggling this season. Last year’s Eastern Conference Finalists have had a poor run so far and are doubtful to reach the playoffs. Things haven’t been going well, despite the team having great players and an excellent head coach. The franchise has a host of problems. But Shaquille O’Neal and Dwyane Wade have identified one of their major concerns.
Shaquille O’Neal and Dwyane Wade comment on the Celtics
NBA legends Shaquille O’Neal and Dwyane Wade spoke on TNT about the Boston Celtics. Shaq believes that the team have identified neither their primary nor secondary attacking options. Until the Celtics identify who their primary option will be, the team will continue to struggle. He thinks the team is complicating matters needlessly.
“I don’t want to use the word- disappointed. I just think there’s something else going on. This game we play, the simpler you make it, the easier it becomes. They have to identify whose team it, and I don’t take that lightly. They have to identify who the second punch and the others have to know their roles,
“This team… they don’t have enough continuity to show me an even-kill one-two punch.”
The Celtics have no identity, according to D-Wade
Dwyane Wade chimed in, noting that the Celtics don’t have a true identity. Their identity is not their defensive prowess, transition game, or their half-court game. Despite having excellent players and a fantastic head coach in Brad Stevens, the Celtics, according to Wade, don’t have a defining characteristic for their team. And that has been holding them back in this campaign.
“I don’t think they have an identity. What is the Boston Celtics’ identity? It’s not defensively. They’re not great in transition, they’re not exceptionally great in the half-court when it comes to the execution of the game. Even though they have an amazing coach and they have amazing players, when I watch them – you got to have an identity as a team.”
Can the Boston Celtics recover their form this season? They have a lot of work to do if they want to secure a spot in the playoffs this year. However, they do have a lot of talented players, and a solid, proven head coach in the form of Brad Stevens who can turn things around.
Jayson Tatum has been putting up All-Star numbers, but needs to do more for the Celtics to achieve turn things around for the better.
