Dana White seems ruthless about his fighters at the moment as the UFC continues to prune their roster. Earlier, former middleweight title challenger Yoel Romero parted ways with the promotion. Subsequently, news broke out of four more fighters getting cut on the same day. Justin Ledet, Bevon Lewis, Cole Smith, and Collin Huckbody are all no longer part of the promotion.

Light-heavyweight Justin Ledet has lost his last 4 fights and currently holds a 9-4 record. Bevon Lewis has had a rocky run in the UFC middleweight division as he managed to win only 1 of his 4 fights.
Bantamweight Cole “The Cole Train” Smith is also another fighter released by the organization. Smith had 3 outings in the octagon; he lost twice. “Young Huck” Collin Huckbody has also been axed. The middleweight never even fought in the UFC though, with his only appearance being a win in Dana White’s Contender Series.
Dana White announced the UFC wants to get rid of 75 fighters
UFC President Dana White had said that the company was looking to get rid of 75 fighters. Although such a mass omission hasn’t occurred, it seems the company is being very open to cutting fighters in recent times and fans could expect many more fighters to be axed.
Last month the UFC announced the release of former flyweight title contender Jussier Formiga. That raised many eyebrows from fans across the world. It showed them that no fighter is safe.
The UFC’s roster is huge at the moment. Dana White acknowledges that too and believes this is the largest roster in the promotion’s history. He said, “Our roster is very inflated right now. We have a very, very big roster. The biggest roster we’ve ever had in the history of the company.”
It seems the UFC is looking to size up their roster and they are being a bit ruthless about it. It also might be a policy from the company to keep fighters on their toes to produce their best performances always.
What do you make of the UFC’s recent cutting of fighters? Is Dana White right?
