Damian Lillard is one of the best modern scorers, and he proved his worth once again vs the Timberwolves. Lillard put on a scoring clinic and already had 26 points to his name after the first two quarters.
While it is no news that Lillard is a sensational scorer, today he added another feather to his cap with this performance. Lillard achieved this feat of scoring 26 points for the 51st time in his career. Over the last 25 seasons, only a handful of players are ahead of Dame in this rare scoring feat.
Furthermore, Lillard moved past his rival Russell Westbrook to gain the #5 spot on this list. Previously, the two were tied for the 5th spot as they had both achieved this feat 50 times each.
With Lillard surpassing Westbrook, only Kobe, LBJ, Harden, and Allen Iverson are ahead of Dame. But with the way Lillard plays, he might move up on this list once it’s all said and done.
Keeping these individual accolades aside, Lillard and co. are still hunting for success in the regular season. After their victory against the Timberwolves, they are now 4-4 in the season. But the team still lacks consistency, which is the biggest reason for their slow start to the season.
Can Damian Lillard lead the Blazers to a respectable playoff run this season?
As good a player as Damian Lillard is, he has struggled to find success in the postseason. Even in the 2020 postseason, the Blazers made it as the 8th seed courtesy of the play-in tournament, but they were handed a gentleman’s sweep by the eventual champions, the LA Lakers.
One can argue that the Blazers’ season was plagued by injuries that can completely disrupt the rhythm of any team. However, this season, their team has been relatively healthy and there should be no excuses for them to not perform at a high level.
But considering the level of competition in the Western Conference, do you think the Blazers can come out of the West?
