Elimination Chamber 2021 is in the books, and fans are both livid and satisfied. Both Chamber matches delivered in wrestling quality and had the right winners, but they weren’t perfect.
Apart from the titular matches, the rest of the show was fairly decent, although it didn’t deliver in spades. It is fair to say that this PPV had its winners and losers.
The biggest losers from the Elimination Chamber PPV
Elimination Chamber’s pre-show featured the first big loser of the evening. Retribution’s Mustafa Ali faced John Morrison, Elias and Ricochet in a fatal four-way match to qualify for the US Championship match as Keith Lee’s replacement.
Unfortunately, Ali’s run as WWE’s resident punching bag continued as he took the losing pinfall from John Morrison.
Cesaro seemed destined to win the Elimination Chamber match and face Roman Reigns. The Swiss Superman has been underutilised for years, and 2021 followed suit.
He had a fantastic run in the match before being eliminated by Jey Uso. Cesaro was a deserving winner, but will have to settle with being a loser tonight.
Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair teamed up to challenge Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler for the Women’s Tag Team Championships. The Royal Rumble winner and the SmackDown Women’s Champion could not pull off a win because of the pesky Reginald. He rolled a champagne bottle into the ring, leading to a distracted Banks getting smashed with a Samoan Drop.
The main event featured a star-studded lineup with the biggest stars on Raw. Randy Orton entered a historic eighth Elimination Chamber match but was the first one to exit. Sheamus talked a big game prior to the match, but ended the night empty-handed, courtesy of AJ Styles.
The biggest winners from tonight’s PPV
Matt Riddle won his first main roster championship at the Elimination Chamber, pinning John Morrison in a triple threat match. Riddle took out the champion Bobby Lashley with a crutch shot before the Bro Derek gave him the win.
Daniel Bryan may have lost to Roman Reigns, but his Elimination Chamber victory shoots him up the ladder on SmackDown. A rematch is coming for the American Dragon, and Fastlane might be the perfect place for it to unfold.
Roman Reigns and Edge will battle in the main event of WrestleMania, making them automatic winners. The Tribal Chief even ate a Spear for his troubles after a successful title defence against a weary Daniel Bryan.
The biggest winner of the night is undoubtedly the Miz. Cashing in his MITB contract, courtesy of an attack on Drew McIntyre by Bobby Lashley, Miz won his second WWE Championship.
It has been ten years since Miz held the WWE Championship, and he seems in prime position to head into WrestleMania as a champion.
